Energy Saving Motor Control

A variable frequency drive (VFD) is a motor controller which varies the frequency and voltage of the motor, allowing it to ramp up or slow down depending on the needs of the system.
Depending on your location, you may be eligible for an energy saving program for this upgrade (Save on Energy Retrofit Program and Incentive).
Key Features
- Save on energy consumption and improve efficiency of the system
- Eliminate hard start/stop on motor, reducing mechanical stress
- Match the demand of the system by varying the speed of the motor
- Reduce peak consumption to reduce peak-demand prices
Configurations
Medical Vacuum
Contactless claw pumps create vacuum by operating a motor which turns two claws against each other. VFD eliminates the need for maximum start/stop cycles by reducing torque stress on the motor coupling, and saves energy by varying pump speed to match hospital demand.
Car Wash
Spindle and fan motors suffer failure from constant start/stop as cars go by. VFD softens motor starting and adds network capability to report motor issues to a SCADA system for remote monitoring.
Water Booster
In a water booster system, VFD maintains correct water pressure by varying pump speed, eliminating the need for a bladder tank to maintain pressure.
